Alice was called home to rest with the Lord on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022.
Alice Mae Sherman was born on January 20th, 1954 in Bucksport, SC to the late Alvie Sherman and Ruthie Mae Bellamy-Moore. She was the oldest of eight children.
Alice received her early education from Whittemore High, eventually graduating in 1972 from Conway High School with the second fully-integrated class after Whittemore High was combined with CHS in 1970. Alice obtained her Associate of Science in Teacher Education from Essex County College in Newark, NJ following high school.
Alice served as a Fellow at Urban Institute and Assistant Director for the YMCA’s Youth and Early Childhood Program. Following her career in the education system, Alice became a dedicated employee of Central Park in Conway, South Carolina where she retired as Assistant Manager after more than 25 years.
Alice was preceded in death by her beloved parents, sister, Jackie Chadman, and brother in law, Eric Huggins.
Alice leaves to cherish her loving memories ~ her sons Keith Allen Sherman, Corey Soyndel Sherman, and Emanuel Vega-Sherman of the home, a grand-daughter reared in the home, Konika ‘Koko’ Robinson, sisters; Frances Stanley of Jonesboro, GA, Patricia Huggins, Janice (Norris) Phillips, Sonya (Jarrod) Jones of Bucksport, SC and Lee Esther (Gregory) Johnson of Conway, SC, brothers; Alvie Sherman Jr and Donnie Sherman of Bucksport, SC, aunts; Lillie Phillips and Ellen Hunt of Bucksport, SC uncle; Robert Sarvis,godson; Jarrodd Jones Jr. of Bucksport, SC and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
