Bertha Mae Bellamy Obituary

Mrs. Bertha Mae Gibson Bellamy was born on January 6, 1962 to the late Thomas Gibson and Helen Gibson in Longs, South Carolina. She departed her earthly life and gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Brunswick Rehabilitation Center in Calabash, North Carolina.

She was educated in Horry County Public Schools. She graduated and received her diploma from Penn Foster High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was married to Elder James A. Bellamy. She joined Freemont Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, and accepted Christ as her personal savior.

She worked for South Carolina Highway Department in Horry County for many years. She was later employed at Sherwin Williams as an Independent Truck Driver.

Mrs. Bellamy was a devoted, loving and caring person. She would never say “no” to anyone nor to anything that she was asked to do. She had a humble heart and a free giving spirit. She would help anyone even if it meant giving her last. She enjoyed traveling. She visited every state in the United States except South Dakota. She had a very expensive taste for the best things in life.  She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending quality time with them.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Rev Jimmy L Gibson.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Elder James A. Bellamy, Atlanta, Georgia; one son: Franklin Webster (Kyesha Bellamy) Gibson, Longs, South Carolina; a devoted mother: Mrs. Helen M. Gibson, Longs, South Carolina; two sisters: Helena Gibson, Longs, South Carolina, Lena (Robbie) Berkley, Little River, South Carolina; three brothers:  Tommy (Rose) Gibson, Longs, South Carolina, Pastor Troy L. Gibson of Longs SC and Tracy A. Gibson, Bishopville, South Carolina; One sister-in-law Barbara Gibson of Md.,a special god mother, Ms. Geraldine Taylor, Longs, South Carolina; five grandchildren: Franklin Jedarrius (Michelle) Gibson, Franasia Gibson, Keyosha Clifton, Ja’Quela Clifton, , Franklin Gibson, Jr; one great grandchild: Elon Gibson, a god daughter: Kim Stephens, god sisters: Cynthia Grate, Ellen Gerald, Carrie Dyson, Evangelist Dora Willard, Evangelist Ashonda Wilson; two uncles: Mr. Shack Valentine (Eunice), Longs, South Carolina, Ronald Gibson, Loris, South Carolina; special cousin: Earnestine Williams, Stephanie Forbes and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
