Cheria Livingston Obituary

Cheria Dane Livingston, daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Pryor Livingston, was born in the Mt. Calvary Community on May 19, 1978.

She was a 1996 graduate of Loris High School. From there she attended Coastal Carolina University and graduated in 2000, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She then attended Webster University, receiving a Master of Arts in Counseling in 2003.

During her time at Coastal Carolina, Cheria became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in 1999 and remained actively involved with the local chapter until her transition. She served two terms as President of the Conway Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.

During her presidency, Cheria introduced several new initiatives, including the implementation of a Scholars Reception to recognize and celebrate local scholarship recipients. Cheria continued to serve diligently in the Conway Alumnae Chapter as Chair of the Physical and Mental Health Committee and contributed as an active member of several committees.

She was a faithful and active member of Mt. Calvary #1 Missionary Baptist Church. She served as the Church Clerk, Announcement Clerk, Trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, member of the Young Adult Choir, and faithfully served on many other church committees. Cheria had a passion for decorating and thoroughly enjoyed it. She loved facilitating church functions. She was a huge volunteer with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, through this effort Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church began celebrating Pink Sunday.

Cheria was actively involved in numerous Kingston Lake Baptist Association auxiliaries to include the Sunday School Convention, Young Women’s Auxiliary, Young People’s Association, and District #2.

One of Cheria's first jobs was at Walmart. She later worked as a Head Start teacher in Green Sea, South Carolina. She also worked at Daisy Elementary School as a counselor while employed by Waccamaw Mental Health. She was most recently employed by Horry County Schools as an RBH Counselor.

On Monday, June 22, 2026, God looked out at 5928 Highway 905 and dispatched an angel to bring Cheria to her heavenly home. Cheria lived a short but meaningful life. There was not a child who did not love Ms. Cheria—both at church and at school!

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her Aunt Claretta Woodard of Temple Hills, Maryland; her uncles, Samuel Curtis Pryor (Cecilia) and Franklin Dellnor Pryor (Theresa), both of Conway, South Carolina; a host of sorrowing cousins and friends, including the Mt. Calvary Young Adult Choir and the Mt. Calvary #1 Missionary Baptist Church family.
