Dana Olivia Player, a radiant beacon of love, laughter, and life, departed from us on August 17, 2023. Born in Sumter, South Carolina, on June 12, 1984, to Gerald "Jerry" Player and Debra "Debi" Smith, Dana was the very embodiment of warmth and affection, lighting up the lives of everyone who knew her. Though she was born in Sumter, she cherished the memories of growing up in Bishopville and later found her heart's home in Conway, South Carolina, with her beloved family.
Completing her high school education in Alabama, Dana's early professional journey led her to the food service industry. However, her most fulfilling role was undoubtedly that of a devoted stay-at-home mother. Dana's dedication was evident in the meticulous attention and boundless love she showered upon her four beautiful children: Shiloh, Lilah, Gabriella, and Fares.
On April 30, 2009, Dana and Elias "Elie" Fares Touma were united in marriage in a charming ceremony at Myrtle Beach. Theirs was a union built on mutual admiration, respect, and deep love. Together, they cultivated a home filled with happiness, understanding, and boundless love.
Beyond her roles as a caring wife and mother, Dana was a passionate artist. She relished moments spent immersed in drawing, arts and crafts, and creating delicious meals from scratch for her family. Those who knew Dana closely will remember her contagious laughter, her zest for life, and the bright smile that could turn any gloomy day sunny.
Sadly, Dana was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Debi, and cherished grandmother, Lucille Darling. However, she leaves behind a legacy of love, encapsulated in the memories shared with her devoted husband, Elie, and their children, Shiloh, Lilah, Gabriella, and Fares. Her legacy also lives on in her loving grandmother, Carolyn Lacoste, grandfather, Bobby Lee (Nancy) Smith, sister, Kelly (Ryan) Schafer, brother, Vince (Mary) Hicks, grandpa Fares Najib Touma, grandma Wasila Sarkis Touma, and her nephew Austin. Special gratitude goes out to Heather Templin and her wonderful family, who have been more than just neighbors or friends; they've been an invaluable extension of Dana's own family.
The life and legacy of Dana Olivia Player will be commemorated on August 24, 2023, at 6:00 pm at McKiever Funeral Home, located at 1408 Race Path Avenue, Conway, South Carolina. As we gather to remember and celebrate her vibrant spirit, we are reminded of the impact she made on all our lives and how her legacy of love, laughter, and passion for life will continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, dear Dana. Your memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
