On Friday morning, February 19, 2021, an angel of the Lord entered the hospital room of David Towan Bennett and took him to his heavenly home. Towan as he was affectionately called, was the son of Alvinia Bellamy and David Bennett, Sr. He was born on April 12, 1975 in Whiteville, NC. He attended Horry County Public Schools and graduated from Loris High School in 1995. Immediately following graduation he enlisted into the US Army. He worked in different capacities but cooking was his passion. He was always willing to do whatever he could to help anyone in need. He was truly a most giving person and never looked for anything in return. Pleasing God was always sufficient for him. He was reared in a good Christian home under the supervision of his father David Bennett, Sr. and his grandparents, mother Bertha Mae and Deacon Edward Bennett who he loved most dearly until the Lord called them from labor to reward. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents J.C. and Juanita Bellamy. He joined Simpson Creek Holiness Church at an early age under the leadership of Bishop Clayton Chestnut.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his parents Alvinia Bellamy and David (Queen) Bennett; his children: Davontay Bryan, Davashey Bennett, David Bennett III, Shelton Snowten, Martwon Bennett, and Kamilla Bennett; his iancé’ Javonta Bennett and her children; his sibilings: Paul (Ajoke) Goodson, Cozietta (Clarence) Hemingway, Shakedra Jenerette, Derrill (Angel) Bennett, Kelly (Damien) Shaw, SFC. Chaqueena (Erin) Bennett, Santanna Bennett, Dominique Johnson, Tia Bennett, and Lizzie Bennett; two special sisters: Laker Bennett and Shanequa Bennett; his maternal aunts and uncles: Artensel (Betty) McCullough, Jeanne McCullough, Fred Bellamy, McArthur (Glenda) Bellamy, Coziette (Fateen) Talib, Marrietta (Ronnie) Harris; his paternal aunts and uncles: Pearlie (Shelby) Bennett, Josh Bennett, Paul Bennett, Richard (Pamela) Bennett, Esther Gause, Mary (Ethell) Vereen, Susie (Roy) Wilson, Ophelia Bennett, Joan Bellamy, Juanita (Johnny [d.]) Bennett, Sarah Rogers [d.], and Eddie Bennett [d.]; and a host of other family members and friends.
