Mr. Elijah Graves, Jr, was born on January 8, 1949, to the late Elijah Graves, Sr and Florence Graves in Marion, South Carolina. He departed his earthly life to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 30, 2023.
He spent his childhood in South Carolina and moved to Boston, MA after graduating from Bethel High School in 1967. He worked as an assembler for Eclipse Sleep Products for many years. While in Boston, MA, he fell in love and was joined in holy matrimony to Donna Graves in 1977. They became parents to their only child, Michele Denise Janice Graves (Decker) in 1978. He later relocated back to South Carolina in 1983 when his father became sick to help with running the family farming business. Although he, himself was faced with is own health issues, he pressed and persevered through all his ailments. He was a man of many gifts, was great with his hands and often used the game of basketball to tell stories that any and everyone could always understand and relate to.
Preceding him in death, his parents; four brothers: Jimmy Graves, Henry Graves, James Sonny Hemingway all of Boston, MA; James Norman of Bronx, NY; two sisters: Celestine Brown (SC), Nan Cummins of Brooklyn, NY.
Elijah leaves to cherish precious and funny memories his wife of 45 years, Donna Graves of the home; daughter, Michele (Rolando) Decker (GA); three grandchildren: Tori Ibanez (TX), Nya and Aomori Decker (GA); mother-in-law, Gloria Reid; sisters: Mary Battle (SC), Catherine Bowden (MA), Geraldine (Anthony) Sindab (FL), Denise Curry (SC), Janice (Amos) Norman (IN); one brother, Harvey Bacchus; two god-daughters: Chahara Faulk (SC), Ciera Bowden (NC); three god-sons: Tyrone Baker (FL), Antwan Norman (IN), Charlie Willis, Jr (VA), and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
