Ella Maye Thomas Hamilton was born on November 16, 1933, in Mullins, South Carolina, and peacefully departed this earthly life on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Julia and Raeford Thompson, and her devoted husband, Carl Wesley Hamilton.
Ella received her education in the public schools of Marion, South Carolina. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as both a missionary and an usher. Her love for God and others shone brightly through her acts of service and the many meals she lovingly prepared and shared.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Carl Junior Hamilton of the home, and the children she held close to her heart: Pamela (John) Nance, Rico Hamilton, and Angelina Hamilton, all of Conway, South Carolina; and one daughter, Geraldine Tisdale of Marion, South Carolina. She is also survived by one sister, Julia Mae Currie, and two brothers, Gene and Jimmy Currie, all of North Carolina.
Ella was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and thirteen great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two special nieces, LaKeisha Williams and Kimberly Genwright; a special daughter, Joanna Miles; and two dear caregiver sisters, Valentina Reaves and Amy Martins.
Ella will be fondly remembered for her love of cooking and baking, her joy in riding her bicycle, and her tender care for her flowers. She was a powerful woman of God with a generous spirit and a heart full of love. Her presence was a blessing to all who knew her.
She will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who were touched by her life.
