Evelyn “Hazel” Jackson Pack, a woman of grace, intelligence, and unwavering faith, was born on February 11, 1947, to James L. and Fariel Evelyn Jackson. She was raised in Horry County, where she completed her education at Whittemore High School, graduating with distinction in 1965. Evelyn’s passion for learning led her to Claflin University, where she pursued a degree in Social Sciences, earning her Bachelor's in 1969. During her time at Claflin, she was initiated into the esteemed Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, a bond she cherished throughout her life.
Driven by her commitment to education, Evelyn furthered her studies at the University of South Carolina, earning a Master’s degree in Education in 1972. She devoted her career to shaping young minds, serving as a dedicated and beloved educator within the Georgetown and Horry County School systems until her retirement in 2010. Her impact as a teacher extended far beyond the classroom, touching the hearts of all who had the privilege of learning from her.
A woman of deep spiritual conviction, Evelyn was a lifelong member of Hemingway Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she devoted her time and talents to various ministries. Her service on the Usher Board, Women’s Missionary Society, and as a cherished member of the Senior Choir reflected her unwavering commitment to her faith and community.
Evelyn’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Zebedee Pack. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Jacinda Pack Wright, and her cherished grandson, Khadafi Wright, both of whom she adored deeply.Evelyn Jackson Pack peacefully passed away on March 21, 2026,leaving behind a lasting legacy of love, faith, and service. Her memorywill be forever cherished by all who knew her.
