Mr. Marion Franklin Knox {80}, the son of Mr. Zackie and Mrs. Evalene Knox was born on January 8, 1940 and raised in the Burgess Community of Horry County. He died at his home on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 home. Marion Franklin was predeceased by his parents along with five {5} siblings : Brothers - Mack, “Herman” Knox, Dennis Knox, James Carolina, Howard Knox and Sister – Francis Livingston – {2} sons; Franklin Rutledge and Herbert “Hump” Rutledge, {3} Brother -in-laws; Jimmy “Fish” Rutledge, James Rutledge and Albany “Billy” Simmons and {1} Sister-in-Law, Mary Knox.
Marion Franklin was known to be a “Jokester, he always had a joke for everyone, he knew how to light up a room with laughter. He loved eating and catching fish, one of his past times after working for Dargan Construction for most of his adult life. Marion attended the Public Schools in Horry County graduating from Whittemore High School in Conway, S.C. He was proud to say he attended “Whittemore.” Marion was a kind fella and loved to “tease” every time you saw him.
Marion leaves his memories to be cherished by those that will miss him, his loving wife Isabelle Knox of over fifty-nine {59} years of marriage; a Daughter, Sara (Jules) Johnson of Conway a Son, Tim (Jane) Knox of Burgess along with nine (9) Grandchildren; Marquita Herriott, Jermaine Chestnut, Ashley Gilliard, Nicole Knox, Jonathan Knox, Derrick, Johnson, Kisha Knox, Terrell Knox and Faysha Moore and not forgetting {12} twelve Great Grandchildren, all of Horry County. Also mourning the loss of Marion are his siblings: two {2} Brothers: Roger (Flornell) Knox of Conyers, GA, and Lawrence Knox of Burgess as well as four {4} Sisters: Drunell Smalls and Blondell Williams of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Mildred Simmons of Burgess and Rev. Lena Carr of Long Island, NY; Marion’s laughter will also be missed by his Sister and Brother in- laws: Johnny Rutledge, Theron (Janice) Rutledge, Rone (Deloris) Rutledge, Eula Rutledge, Lilla Deas, Emma Small, Frances (Monroe) Holmes all of Burgess and Wanda Jackson of Savannah, GA.
Fond memories are also left to many nieces, nephews, cousins and his special Caregiver, Ms. Machelle Miller, as well as a special friend whose visits he appreciated, Solomon Deas of Burgess.
