Mrs. Mae Moore Obituary

A Time to Be Born

Mae Dell McCray Moore is the third child of the late Pressy McCray Jr. and Roberts Faulk McCray. She was born on December 21, 1935. Mae Dell graduated from Whittemore High School on May 30, 1958.

A Time to Love

Mae Dell McCray was joined in holy matrimony to her loving husband Odell Moore on March 2, 1969, lasting a joyful sixty-four years. To this union three affectionate children were born -Sylvia Ann, Oliver Wendell and Margo Yevette.

A Time to Embrace

Mae Dell received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She remained a devoted Christian at Jerusalem Baptist Church her entire life.  She served on the Missionary Board, Adult choir and directed the Young People’s choir.  A gifted woman, with an anointed voice, Mae Dell glorified God in praise and through song.  By request, in her youth, she and her siblings traveled throughout the community ministering the gospel. Overtime, Mae Dell and her sister, Josephine continued their service to God as only she knew best – singing. Mae Dell was an industrious woman – sewing, gardening, and canning -life skills that reflected her ability to use all her God given talents. For many years, Mae Dell was employed with Aynor Manufacturing as a seamstress, promoted to supervisor, and later retired from Anvil Knitwear in Mullins. After retirement, taking full advantage of her blessings, Mae Dell became an entrepreneur in 2010. She was the owner and sole operator of “Dells Florist” located at 1699 Bucksport Road, in Bucksport.

A Time of Peace

At her home, with her devoted husband and children by her side, Mae Dell departed this earthly life on August 8, 2024. She departed in peace with the same faith in God that sustained her in life.

A Time to Mourn

Mae Dell’s life and how she lived will continue to be present in the lives of many that loved her.
