Naomi (Banta) Jones

Naomi Banta Jones was born in Conway, SC on April 6, 1956. She transitioned from her earthly home on February 21, 2021. Her biological parents were the late Charles Mazyck and the late Susie Johnson; however, she was adopted and raised by the late Oscar "Pete" Banta and the late Leona Banta, very loving adoptive parents.

Naomi attended public schools in Horry County and graduated from Conway High School in 1974. Beyond high school, she extended her studies at Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown Technical College. She was employed for a number of years at AVX Corporation in Myrtle Beach, and later at Conway Hospital. Over the years, her preferred place of worship and spiritual comfort was Bethel AME Church in Conway.

Naomi loved music and loved to dance. She was also very athletic during her youth. She always enjoyed talking, laughing and sharing good memories with family and friends.
Naomi leaves to cherish her memories: Donald C. Jones, Sr, her husband of over 40 years; her children, Donald C. Jones, II(Keshia), Niaoshi Jones, and Benika Jones (Cornelius)- all of Conway; and eleven grandchildren. Her siblings who preceeded her in death were William "Billy" Lawrence, Patricia Gayle Johnson and William Earl Johnson. Living siblings are: Angela Williams, Andrea White, Benjamin Mazyck, Danny Mazyck and Larry Mazyck- all of Pawleys Island, SC; Audrey Johnson Walker, Brenda Ann Ford and Charles DeLoach- all of Conway, SC; Brenda Lee Huggins, Henry Lee Huggins and Eric James Johnson- all of Norwalk, CT; as well as Audrey J. Huggins McKoy of Indian Trail, NC. A host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends also mourn her death. However, her spirit is alive and well in all who knew her.
