Nellie Huggins Obituary

“…for I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and an expected in…”                       Jeremiah 29: 11

The angels of silence came into her home on Thursday, November 14, 2024, and took our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend Ms. Nellie Ann Huggins into eternal rest. She has gone to join her beloved mother, father, and three brothers: John Huggins, Sr., Eric (Doris) Huggins, Sr., and Vincent Huggins.

“Nell”, daughter of the late Nelson Huggins, Sr. and Georgia Ann Huggins was born January 10, 1954, in the Bucksport section of Horry County, South Carolina.  She was educated in the Horry County Public Schools and graduated from Conway High School with the Class of 1974. After graduating high school, Nellie was employed with Conway Mill for approximately 30 years and Conway Medical Center for 15 years. Our family will truly miss our cooking extraordinaire – especially the hamburgers and chicken sandwiches from Bell’s Lounge! Nellie was a strong trooper as she faced many health issues over the last 14 years, and much appreciation is expressed to the staff of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Fresenius Dialysis of Conway, Compass Cove Acute Rehabilitation, and Noel Villa Apartments who were diligent in their care for our loved one.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one son: Marquis Huggins and one granddaughter, Kiana Singleton. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves to cherish her memories five brothers: James Huggins, Lee Mark (Janice) Huggins, Rodney Huggins, Myles Huggins, and Nelson Huggins, Jr., all of Bucksport, SC; four sisters: Audrey Spain and Mavis (James) Phillips of Conway, SC, Carol Bellamy of Bucksport, SC, and Robin (Juan) Flores of San Antonio, Texas. She, also, leaves to cherish her memories one aunt: Dorothy Doctor of Bucksport, SC, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

“…For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life

through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6: 23
