Phyllis Ann Campbell (Peach) was born to the late Geraldine and David Barr on February 21,1966 in Myrtle Beach SC. Her paternal grandparents, the late Lila and Dave Barr, raised her.
She attended and graduated from Myrtle Beach High School’s class of 1985. While there she learned about welding and culinary arts. She worked at many places throughout her life in Myrtle Beach. Phyllis worked for over 20 years at the Caribbean Hotel. She was always a diligent worker. She showed dedication to her family and her community. Phyllis carried a great spirit showing love and kindness to all she encountered.
Phyllis lived an incredibly happy, bold, and exciting life with the support of her children. She lived her life “out loud”. She was a pillar of her community (White Street). The Alley was always home to her. Her house was always a haven for kids, the hangout spot. A place to be yourself where you could get a hot meal and a warm embrace. Phyllis’s door and heart were always open. For the last ten years she battled kidney cancer with a smile on her face. She refused to let her illness stop her from enjoying life with her daughters and her grandkids. 9 times out 10 she would be somewhere fishing, scrapping metal, or crabbing. Phyllis received her flowers over and over every day. She departed this earthy life on Friday, July 19, 2024, at McLeod Hospital in Florence SC.
Peach leaves to cherish her memories four daughters Ashley Barr, LaTonya (Faisal) Alhassan, Keisha Barr, and Seantiara Barr.
