Shatisha Ya’nique Phillips was born on June 10, 1976, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Ms. Carolyn Evon Phillips and Ronnie Samuel. On Monday, October 27, 2025, she departed this earthly life for her prepared place in our Savior’s Kingdom. She was preceded in death by Moses and Betty Hodges, her surrogate parents who raised her as their own.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age at Christ Baptist Church of Coram, in Coram, New York. Since relocating, she became a member of Salem AME Church of Conway, South Carolina. She attended the public schools of Charleston graduating in 1995 from Middleton High School. Upon graduation, she furthered her education by pursuing a career in Home Health Care.
Affectionately known as Tisha, she loved her family and spending time with them. She loved to read, play solitaire, listen to music, cook, and sing to the top of her lungs. Tisha had a great sense of humor and if you were ever in her presence, you were sure to have a good laugh.
She leaves to cherish her memories her two beautiful daughters: Heaven Doveyah Evon Hutto of Columbia, SC and Brooklyn Skyye N’Terra Williams of Bucksport, SC. One sister, Diane Hodges of Tampa, Florida; and two brothers, Moses Hodges, Jr (Joycelyn), and Jamal Hodges (Jamie). One Uncle, Harold Phillips (Geneva), and Aunt Lillie Mae Phillips. A host of other family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and close friends.
