Mrs. Sylvia Jo “Sivi Jo” Williams Hemingway, daughter of the late Roy and Edith Brantley Williams was born June 24, 1941 in the Sandridge Community of Conway, South Carolina. On Thursday evening March 19, 2020 she took God’s hand and entered into eternal rest with family at her bedside.
Sylvia attended Conway High School. At an early age, Sivi Jo accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Bethlehem #1 Missionary Baptist Church. She worked at AVX for more than 30 years and volunteered at Conway Manor for many years.
Sylvia married the late Charles Hemingway, Sr. and to this union they were blessed with four children. Sylvia loved her nieces and nephews, and they loved her even more as she was a very loving and caring person.
Sylvia was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories her children: Cassandra Spain, Charlene (Teddy) Spain, Carmella Hemingway and Charles (Roshell) Hemingway; two sisters: Sarah Faulk and Elouise Williams; eight grandchildren: Quentral (Petrina), Naidra, Chanika, A.J., C.J., Havel, Juwon, and Tchernavia; thirteen great grandchildren: Quisha (Justin), Kiara, Jarius, Duante’, Kaden, Jayla, Nia, Carrington, Isaiah, Serenity, Ja’Noah, Kalani, and Havel; one great great grandchild, Jace; four sisters in love; Bobby Jordan, Irma Laws, Ethel Webb, and Elouise Williams; an extra child, Richard (Shirlene) Dukes; one aunt, Geneva Brantley and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Public Visitation will be Monday, March 23, 2020 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at McKiever Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services, will be Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 12:00 pm, at Bethlehem #1 Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Sonny Bridges, officiating
