Mrs. Sylvia J. Grissett-Bryant (Fondly known as Lizzie) was born June 1, 1950, in Conway, S.C. to the late Henry and Virginia Grissett. She peacefully departed this life Friday October 15, 2021, at home surrounded by family & loved ones.
At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined herself with the Mt. Zion MB Church in the Pine Grove Section. She served the church in many capacities singing on the adult choir for many years, usher dept, youth dept/youth choir, kitchen committee and active in the community affairs such as the summer lunch program. She worked for many years, at K&W Cafeteria and for the Horry County School District.
Lizzie really loved all her family and was a friend to all that met her! She was the type of person who never met a stranger! She was just a very helpful person and would help anybody that she could. Family and friends were dear to heart and Lizzie thought it important to tell those she loved that she loved them. She would always end every conversation she had by saying, “I love you.” But... As quick as she was to be helpful, she was just as quick to tell you what she had to tell you if you got her wrong and would still love on you right after! Lizzie never held grudges.
To know Lizzie was to love her. She was a great homemaker and enjoyed cleaning her home and doing yard work. She also enjoyed laughing, talking and she really enjoyed singing church melodies. She always said, “I can’t sing I have a heavy voice, but that didn’t stop her from belting out praises to God!
Family is what Lizzie loved most. She especially enjoyed being in the company of her children, grands and great grands! Being around them always brought her great joy! She loved them all and she would always ask whether they were near or far... “How them children doing?” Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the hearts of all those who knew her.
Lizzie was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Clayton Lee and by her three brothers James H. Grissett, Edward J. Grissett and Rock Grissett
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Minister Carlas Dewitt (Pastor Shannon Dewitt) of Charlotte N.C., Bishop Tony DeWitt (Overseer Dionnie DeWitt) of Bennettsville S.C. Three daughters, Tina Pratt (Chris Pratt), Farena Bellamy (Mark Bellamy) of Conway, S.C. and Demetria Bellamy (Jeffery Bellamy) of Loris S.C. Three sisters Ethel B. Washington, Johnnie Mae Grate (Edison Grate), Terrie Dewitt (Willie Joe DeWitt) and one brother Johnny H. Grissett (Mary “Kat” Grissett). Two sisters-in-law Angeline Grissett and Gwendolyn Grissett. Twenty grands, nine great-grands and four uncles. A great host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
We will not say that she is gone, she is just away; She has gone into an unknown heavenly land and left us dreaming how very lovely it must be since she is there. She is gone, but not forgotten... Never will her memory fade.
