On Friday, July 14, 1961 at 5:45 AM, the late Edward and Leona Gore became the proud parents of another baby girl, their 5th one, Tammy Lee Gore. She departed this life very early on Monday, March 22, 2021, after a life of helping others and a fierce battle with brain cancer.
Tammy received her education through Horry County Schools and was a proud member of the Class of 1979, known as Big Time '79. She received her religious education as a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. She accepted God into her life at a very early age and was committed to her religious institution as a member of the Usher Board. She was also an active member of the Willing Workers Society and spent countless hours giving a helping hand to anyone in the commu nity who needed it.
Tammy never married or had children but was extremely devoted to her family, friends, and her work. She spent thirteen years of her life working at Belk and another fifteen years working at Estee Lauder's Cosmetic Company. She had a hand in making all of us feel a little better by making a basket or giving a bit of perfume, but her greatest passion was making us look a little better by sharing her expertise of how to care for skin.
She leaves to cherish loving memories the sisters: Bridget Gore who was her roommate for more than 40 years, the person Tammy took care of and the person who took care of Tammy; the late Marion “Wy” Laws who gave the advice and awaited Tammy's arrival on the other side; Lynette Sherman who took meals to Tammy and helped her make decisions; Debra Alston who was Tammy's ride or die, BFF, roadie, prayer partner and always helped her find the perfect outfit; Judy Rashada who kept all of her secrets; Ebbie (Ben) Hickman who frustrated her and who she depended on to guide her through the journey when she was diagnosed; Valerie who made sure she had Tammy's back by keeping everybody in check and holder of even greater secrets; Carolyn Norman who was the cousin that Tammy made sure was treated like a sister;
Her nieces: Devona Williams, Bysheba Sherman, April Sherman, the late Starshema “Mel” Rashada, and Jaylen Green; her nephews Rico Gore and Donnie Alston II; her great niece Gabby Nichols; and her great nephews Ahmad Anderson and Cameron Norman are also left to cherish memories;
Other special ones include Tammy's step family The Browns and Rever end Francine, her feisty, knowledgeable, loving, dependable, committed, God-send nurse, cook, and all around caretaker.
The sweet spirit that we know as Tammy has left behind a host of us who will miss her greatly. Sleep well our angel and may God
