The angels of silence came into Veterans Village on Friday, September 6, 2024, and took our father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Mr. Vincent Cornelius Huggins into eternal rest. He has gone to join his beloved mother, father, and two brothers: John Huggins, Sr. and Eric (Doris) Huggins, Sr. “Vince”, son of the late Nelson Huggins, Sr., and Georgia Ann Huggins was born August 21, 1958, in the Bucksport section of Horry County, South Carolina.
He was educated in the Horry County Public Schools and graduated from Conway High School. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Army. Vince was a jack of all trades – truly a very gifted member of our family in the prime of his life. Over the last few years, his health began to decline. Much appreciation is expressed to the staff of NHC Healthcare in Charleston, SC, Caris Healthcare in Conway, SC, Veterans Village in Florence, SC, and Patriots Healthcare Hospice Services in Florence, SC, who were diligent in their care for our loved one.
He leaves to cherish his memories, two children: Bridgette Phillips and Darius Sarvis; four grandchildren: Rasheed Phillips, Asia Phillips, DeAndre Phillips, and Quashean Phillips; nine great-grandchildren: Aiden, James, Davina, Grayson, Logan, Ella, Haven, Nylan, and Kelsiya. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves to cherish his memories five brothers: James Huggins, Lee Mark (Janice) Huggins, Rodney Huggins, Myles Huggins, and Nelson Huggins, Jr., all of Bucksport, SC; five sisters: Nellie Ann Huggins and Carol Bellamy of Bucksport, Audrey Spain and Mavis (James) Phillips of Conway, SC, and Robin (Juan) Flores of San Antonio, Texas. He also leaves to cherish his memories, one aunt: Dorothy Doctor of Bucksport, SC; two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
