Viola Holmes Stevens began life’s journey on April 13, 1932 In the Burgess Community of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Agnes Carr Holmes.
Viola graduated from Howard High School In Georgetown, South Carolina In 1951. After graduation, Viola moved to Baltimore, Maryland to begin a new chapter In her life.
On October 5, 1963, she was united In holy matrimony to the late Nathan Stevens. To this union, one daughter, Lisa Yvette, was born.
In 2006, Viola retired after 32 years of dedicated service to the New York Police Department. In July of 2007, she achieved one of her life-long dreams of Independently purchasing and owning her
own home.
On October 10, 2024, Viola transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home. Awaiting her husband, Nathan Stevens; her sisters Enethia Hills, Thelma Corbitt, and Margaret Bethea; one brother, Ed
James “Rock” Holmes.
Viola leaves behind her cherished memories of her devoted daughter, Lisa Yvette Stevens of Laurel, Maryland; one brother, Elmer Alton Homes; one sister, Barbara (Bernard) German; 17 nieces and 12 nephews. Especially dear to her heart were her niece, Angel Mack and Nephews, Charles Ravanell and Lafayette Carr.
