Wilbur Vereen Obituary

Mr. Wilbur Ausbur Vereen departed this earthly life to be with the Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 13, 2025, in Conway, SC.

He was the loving son of Wilbur H. and Oreatha  Gause Vereen born on December 15, 1939.

He attended Whittemore High School in Conway, SC, graduated from Horry Georgetown Technical College. He was a certified automotive technician employed with Goodyear in Conway, SC and Aynor Tire Mart. He was also a representative agent with Primerica Insurance Company.

He was raised up in St. John Freewill Baptist Church in Galivants Ferry, SC. He joined the Bahai Faith later and attended Louis Gregory Bahai Institute in Hemingway, SC. He served on the national, district, and local teaching committees. Wilbur's hobbies included working on vehicles, yard work, building things and cooking.

He was united in holy wedlock to the late Mrs. Ilena Huffman Vereen in June of 1966. To this union two children were born, Glenn Russell Vereen (Cyndi) of Siler City, NC, and Lavivia V. Taylor of Aynor, SC. 

God Children:   Latasha Godbolt-Jones of Surfside Beach , SC, Amari Marks of Aynor, SC, Staci Lashawn Jenkin of Columbia, SC, Dejares Maxwell of Columbia, SC, Chaznic Maxwell of Columbia, SC, Angela Jenkins of Columbia, SC, Stantel Ballard of Columbia, SC, Artesha Blanding of Orlando, FL, Brandi Leigh Van Houten of Conway, SC, and Di'mond Scott;

Grandchildren: Ashley Vereen Walker Jr. (Sheldon) of Baltimore, MD, Jordan Hannah (Lydia) of Oak Ridge, TN, Alyssa Ilena Vereen of Siler City, NC, and Maryah Grace Vereen of Winthrop, ME; one proceeded him in death , Isaiah Michael Perry of Bangor, ME.

Great grandchildren:, Kingston Walker of Baltimore, MD; Raylea Ann Lorraine Hannah of Oak Ridge, TN.

Only sister: Odessa Legette of Galivant Ferry, SC.

Sister In Laws:  Sara Mae Huffman of Aynor, SC; Vonter Vereen, Vera Mae Vereen and  May Bell Bird of Willingboro, NJ

 Brother-in law: Jimmy Bird of Willingboro, NJ.

Proceeded in death

Sisters: Mattie Carter, Janie Alford, Isla Alston, Viola Gilmore, Rosa Lee Vereen, Alice Vereen

Brothers: William (Sonny) Vereen, Ander Lee Vereen and Joseph Vereen. Junior Vereen
